About the Workforce Development Division The Workforce Development Division is part of the statewide workforce development network, ARIZONA@WORK. We provide services that benefit both employers and job seekers throughout Maricopa County. For our employment partners, we provide services such as recruiting, developing, and retaining the best employees for their needs. Our team provides job seekers with services and resources to pursue educational and employment opportunities. By developing our state's workforce and matching employers with job seekers, we strengthen Maricopa County's and Arizona's economy. About the Department of Human Services The Maricopa County Human Services Department (HSD) builds resiliency in the community and promotes the well-being of County residents experiencing adversity through a variety of programs and services to help people and families thrive. These opportunities include early childhood education, housing, homeownership, independent living services for seniors and adults with disabilities, career development for job seekers with barriers to employment, crisis rental and utility assistance, and support for people experiencing homelessness. Requirements

  • One year of experience in employment, training programs, case management, career development activities, reentry services, or equivalent social service programs
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field
  • An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.
  • Must complete background check and fingerprint identification upon hire to successfully secure and maintain the Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of professional-level experience in Career Services, Education, or Social Services

Responsibilities

  • Assess participants' barriers to employment and arrange available area resources and supportive services as needed, including transportation, education, and emergency assistance
  • Create, update, and maintain accurate participant case notes and files
  • Meet with participants one-on-one or in a group enrollment setting to review applications and determine if the customer meets WIOA eligibility requirements
  • Advise participants regarding secondary education, post-secondary training, resume development, interviewing techniques, and permanent employment opportunities
  • Conduct program orientations, informational seminars, and one-on-one sessions with participants
  • Provide intensive, sustained one-on-one support and guidance to a case load of up to 120 individuals during the period of program participation.
  • Assist participants in developing career and education action plans
  • Perform and interpret academic and work readiness evaluations and assessments
  • Provide labor market information on in-demand occupations
  • Conduct outreach across various areas of Maricopa County to raise awareness of the program's services.
  • Utilize various platforms to support case management activities
  • Provide and track referrals to program partners and community-based service providers
  • Assist with job fairs, resource fairs, and other program events
