Madison Strategies Group, a local workforce development non-profit organization, is hiring a Career Advisor who will help individuals determine, pursue, and reach their educational, career, and life goals. This role is for a goal-focused individual with great communication and critical thinking skills who will help customers be successful in their career journey. Requirements

  • Post-secondary education; BA or BS degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years working in a professional office environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative work culture
  • 1–2 years mentoring, coaching, or related experience.
  • Skilled in planning, identifying priorities, and providing solutions
  • Must have schedule flexibility; occasional evening and weekend work required.
  • Comfortable conducting presentations in front of large groups and a one-on-one setting.
  • Desire to work as part of a team driven by data and results, dedicated to achieving positive outcomes while maintaining a positive atmosphere.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have proficient computer skills and experience with of Microsoft Office, Gmail, and Google Drive, with the ability to adapt to new equipment and technology.
  • Must have personal transportation that can be used throughout the workday

Responsibilities

  • Interview potential customers and determine suitability for the program.
  • Provide customers with individualized career guidance, coaching, and support to help them complete educational training courses, gain and retain employment, and pursue advancement opportunities.
  • Assist program participants with enrollment in technical training programs.
  • Guide customers in creating goals for education and employment, track customers' progress toward achieving their goals, and provide support to achieve them.
  • Support customers enrolled in technical training tracks through weekly class check-ins, peer huddles, and workshops.
  • Assist customers in overcoming obstacles to training completion and employment, including scheduling challenges, childcare, transportation, family crises, and other life situations.
  • Make referrals to family support and mental health staff.
  • Work collaboratively with the Business Services Team to determine the types of jobs that match the skills and qualifications of training graduates and job seekers.
  • Maintain frequent, ongoing communication with customers to build trusting relationships.
  • Track monthly and quarterly goals for training completion, job placement, and customer engagement.
  • Record daily activity and case notes in Salesforce, including phone calls, emails, services delivered, class visits, and other customer interactions.
  • Participate in industry associations and professional development activities.
