About The Position

WorkSource Montgomery, Inc. (WSM) is a nonprofit organization and fiduciary agent for Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act funding in Montgomery County. The non-profit organization operates the American Job Centers in Wheaton and Germantown and provides employment services to county residents who are unemployed or underemployed. Additionally, WSM engages employers in various industries throughout the county to ensure that their workforce needs are being met. This role will work with Montgomery County Correctional Facility (MCCF) participants. The CA will help to develop individual employment plans as well as job readiness skills which will enable the career seeker to secure and maintain gainful employment post-release. To be successful in this position depends on strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a structured, high‑accountability correctional environment.

Requirements

  • HS diploma/GED required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and vehicle to use in performance of job.
  • Position requires some travel.
  • Any offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of WSM and MCCF's pre-employment screening processes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist program participants by providing personalized case management to create and maintain individualized plans to obtain a detailed career transition to the workforce and securing permanent employment.
  • Conduct regular group guidance and support meetings with participants.
  • Assist participants through various assessments for exploring employment opportunities including access to on-the-job training and career advancement jobs.
  • Provide individual and group guidance and support to participants related to job search and career development by assisting participants with job applications process, including resume writing, job interview preparation (including mock interviews and job acceptance as appropriate), and provide feedback and guidance in the post interview process.
  • Work in collaboration with Pre-Release Reentry Services Division and Community American Job Centers for proper coordination of services and to advocate on the participants' behalf.
  • Support data collection and evaluation activities.
  • Prepare program and other related reports.
  • Make presentations to staff of other units/agencies, programs, and services. Develop outreach information brochures and other literature intended for promotion of the MCCF Center.
  • Explore labor market trends – specifically, statistics available through the State Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulations and review participants' career interests. Consult with business/industry representatives to determine needs for additional training.
  • Maintain records on participant's progress and assist in the development of Maryland Workforce Exchange (MWE) reports.
  • Maintain records of participant's progress in the Maryland Workforce Exchange (MWE) and provide reports to MCCF and Community American Job Center.
  • Enter all WIOA services to include resume assistance, workshops, transitional employment, employment opportunities, and case notes in the Maryland Workforce Exchange System (MWE).
  • Attends MCCF, or Contractor, trainings and meetings when the content is relevant to the MCCF.
  • Attends weekly staff meeting as required via remote connection.
  • Attends bi-monthly All Staff meetings as required via remote connection.
  • Attends weekly morning huddles to share information with team members.
  • Attends professional development training as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
