Care Team Leader- Pediatric ICU
About The Position
This is a 90% FTE position with 8/12 Day/Evening Shifts and a weekend and holiday rotation required. Hours may vary based on operational needs of the department. The role is located at the American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, WI. This position is eligible for shift and weekend differentials. The Care Team Leader will join a highly skilled and committed multidisciplinary team, providing family-centered care to critically ill or injured children and their families in a state-of-the-art 21-bed unit. Responsibilities include providing comprehensive care for patients with a wide variety of medical and surgical problems, including acute head injuries, critical neurological disorders, pulmonary diseases, cardiac anomalies, organ transplantation, multi-system organ failure, and ECMO. The role also involves providing high-quality care to complex cardiac conditions, such as congenital heart defects, Ventricular Assisted Devices, and heart transplant. The Care Team Leader will motivate and lead nursing staff, collaborate with the interprofessional team, analyze and resolve problems outside the scope of a nurse clinician, and mentor others for professional growth.
Requirements
- 2 years experience in an inpatient unit
- 2 years of combined work experience and leadership experience may be considered in lieu of two (2) years’ experience in an inpatient unit
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Pediatric ICU (PICU)- PALS within 180 Days
Nice To Haves
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing
- 3 years experience in an acute care inpatient unit
- Relevant RN experience with department-specific patient population
- National certification in relevant specialty
Responsibilities
- Provide family-centered care to critically ill or injured children and their families.
- Provide comprehensive care for patients admitted with a wide variety of both medical and surgical problems.
- Provide high quality care to complex cardiac conditions.
- Motivate and lead nursing staff while working in collaboration with the interprofessional team.
- Analyze and resolve problems that fall outside the domain of the nurse clinician and collaborate with other departments and care providers.
- Mentor others to grow professionally and advance their knowledge and skills.
