About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Care Partner for the Med/Surg 2N unit in Nashville, Tennessee. VUMC is a community dedicated to advancing health and wellness through patient care, education, and research. This role assists nursing staff and patients with basic care needs, implements orders, and evaluates care. The Care Partner reports to the charge nurse and Clinical Director of the unit and collaborates with various healthcare team members to ensure quality of care. This position requires self-direction, a focus on quality, and strong interpersonal communication skills.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Less than 1 year of relevant work experience
Fundamental Awareness of Planning & Organizing: Demonstrates ability to anticipate basic resource needs, identify discrete tasks, set priorities, define dependencies, schedule activities, meet deadlines, and organize work for own assignments and responsibilities. Appropriately matches equipment, and capital resources to task demands. Prepares and presents clear and accurate status reports on projects and assignments.
Fundamental Awareness of Care Partner Patient Documentation: Has limited experience or training working with clinical applications for patient documentation.
Fundamental Awareness of Environment of Care: Has limited experience or training working with set up and maintenance of patient exam rooms, supplies and equipment.

Responsibilities

Obtains vital signs, Intake and Outputs, and daily weight
Reports any abnormal findings to the nurse and/or charge nurse
Assists patients with activities of daily living, bathing, and toileting
May transcribe physician orders, answers patient call lights and relays messages to staff in a timely manner
May assist physicians with obtaining needed information on patients
Adheres to practices and policies outlined to ensure patient safety and follows infection control standards
