About The Position

The Care Partner supports nursing staff with patient care delivery, clerical functions, organization of the unit environment, and equipment setup and maintenance. The emphasis on these areas depends on the assigned unit. This position is for the 5 North Medical/Surgical unit and is per diem on a 12-hour night shift. The hourly rate is $24.72. USC Verdugo Hills Hospital is part of Keck Medicine of USC and provides community hospital care backed by an academic medical center, including specialized care, emergency services, research, and clinical trials.

Requirements

Current California Certified Nurse Assistant certification, or active enrollment in an accredited nursing program with equivalent training and completion of the Fundamentals of Nursing course with a grade of B or better.
Maintain active California Certified Nurse Assistant certification or active enrollment in an accredited nursing program. Graduates or individuals who leave an accredited nursing program will be suspended from work and given 30 calendar days to re-enroll or obtain California Certified Nurse Assistant certification.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) card.
AB 508 Certification; if not held upon hire, it must be obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer into the department and maintained through renewal before expiration.
Ability to pass a four-hour USC Verdugo Hills Hospital Electronic Health Record data-entry training course.
Skill in prioritizing assignments and completing work in a timely manner while handling competing requirements and a heavy workload.

Nice To Haves

Six months to one year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant, preferably in an acute care setting, based on unit definition.
Understanding of basic medical terminology and abbreviations.
