Care Partner (CNA) - 5 North Med/Surg - Per Diem 12 Hour Day Shift (Union)
About The Position
The Care Partner provides nursing staff support in patient care delivery, clerical functions, and organization of the unit environment, as well as equipment setup and maintenance. The emphasis on these areas depends on the assigned unit. This position is per diem on the 5 North Med/Surg unit, with a 12-hour day shift, and is union-represented. Care Partners must maintain either an active California Certified Nurse Assistant certification or active enrollment in an accredited nursing program, subject to the stated training and enrollment conditions. The role also requires a current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) card and AB 508 Certification. If the AB 508 card is not held at hire, it must be obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer into the department and maintained through renewal before expiration. USC Verdugo Hills Hospital is part of Keck Medicine of USC and is a community hospital serving the Los Angeles Foothills area. The hospital offers personalized care, emergency services, medical advancements, research, and clinical trials. The hourly rate for this position is $24.72.
Requirements
- Current California Certified Nurse Assistant certification, or active enrollment in an accredited nursing program with equivalent training and completion of at least the Fundamentals of Nursing course with a grade of B or better.
- Six months to one year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant, or active enrollment in an accredited nursing program.
- Ability to pass a four-hour USC Verdugo Hills Hospital Electronic Health Record data entry training course.
- Ability to prioritize assignments and complete work in a timely manner when faced with competing requirements and a heavy workload.
- Maintain active California Certified Nurse Assistant certification or active enrollment in an accredited nursing program. Those who graduate or drop out must re-enroll or obtain California Certified Nurse Assistant certification within 30 calendar days.

- AB 508 Certification; if not held upon hire, obtain it within 30 days of hire or transfer into the department and maintain it by renewing before expiration.
Nice To Haves
