About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Care Partner for the Emergency Services department. This role is crucial in assisting with patient care and maintaining unit standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse. VUMC is a leading institution in Nashville, Tennessee, dedicated to advancing health and wellness through patient care, education, and research. The Adult Emergency Department is a fast-paced, high-volume environment where staff function as a family, caring for patients with a wide array of emergent medical conditions. We provide individualized orientation for new staff. This is a Full-Time Night Shift position, working three 12-hour shifts per week (6:45 pm - 7:15 am). Set schedules are not available and are determined by unit needs. All employees are required to attend hospital orientation during regular daytime hours in their first week.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
  • AND one of the following:
  • Current enrollment in a professional nursing RN program with successful completion of the first semester (including nursing fundamentals clinical)
  • OR Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program within the past year (certificate of completion required)
  • OR Minimum of one year of recent experience (within the past two years) as a care partner, nursing assistant, or patient care technician.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
  • Assists with day-to-day delivery of patient care.
  • Facilitates efficient and safe patient care and flow by following work area standards.
  • Serves as a liaison for communication and education of patient and family needs.
  • Supports unit operations and patient flow by maintaining supplies, equipment, and unit environmental standards.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.
