Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a dedicated Care Partner to join their team on the VAD & Heart Transplant unit. This role involves assisting with patient care and maintaining unit standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The unit is a fast-paced, collaborative, high-acuity area specializing in advanced heart interventions, caring for adult patients requiring ventricular assist devices (VADs), pre- and post-heart transplants, pre- and post-coronary artery bypass and valve surgeries, advanced heart failure treatments, and pre- and post-procedures. The unit also manages patients with chest pain, arrhythmia, and myocardial infarctions, and performs procedures such as cardiac catheterization, radiofrequency ablation, cardioversions, percutaneous coronary intervention, and implantation of pacemakers or automatic cardiac defibrillators. This is the only unit outside of VUMC’s Cardiovascular ICU trained to care for VAD patients and the only VUMC stepdown unit trained to perform peritoneal dialysis. VUMC is committed to an environment where everyone can thrive and where uniqueness is celebrated, fostering a sense of purpose and pride in work.
