Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The Division of Hematology and Oncology conducts research and treats all types of adult cancers including solid tumor cancers and hematological (blood) disorders, as well as coagulation disorders and non-cancerous blood diseases. With over 80 faculty members representing a broad range of professional training and expertise, our dedicated team of professionals is committed to cancer care through research to better understand and treat cancers; state-of-the-art patient care and personalized cancer therapy; clinical trials, including Phase I drug development with subsequent Phase II and Phase III testing; training future cancer doctors and researchers; and cancer chemotherapy, pharmacology, and biological therapy with an emphasis on solid tumors.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
AND one of the following:
Current enrollment in a professional nursing RN program with successful completion of the first semester ( including nursing fundamentals clinical )
Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program within the past year (certificate of completion required)
Minimum of one year of recent experience ( within the past two years ) as a care partner, nursing assistant, or patient care technician.
CLINICAL COMPETENCIES (Novice): Demonstrates competence with interventions (such as point of care testing, vital signs, etc.) in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
CARE PARTNER PATIENT DOCUMENTATION (Novice): Independently works with clinical applications for patient documentation.
ENVIRONMENT OF CARE (Novice): Demonstrates ability to set up and maintain patient rooms, supplies, and equipment. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering environment of care services while requiring some support and instruction from others.
PLANNING & ORGANIZING (Novice): Demonstrates ability to anticipate basic resource needs, identify discrete tasks, participates in goal setting, define dependencies, schedule activities, meet deadlines, and organize work for own assignments and responsibilities.
