About The Position

The Care Partner III (CNA License Required) in the ICU is a part-time night position responsible for providing direct patient care, assisting with hygiene, comfort, and health needs. This role involves monitoring vital signs, assisting with feeding and ambulation, and preventing skin breakdown. When assigned as Teletech, the Care Partner monitors patient rhythms and transcribes orders. When assigned as Ward Secretary, they complete secretarial duties including preparing charts, obtaining records, and scheduling procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
  • Current Colorado Certified Nursing Assistant
  • Telemetry experience required
  • Current BLS

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of Certified Nursing Assistant experience, secretary training OR equivalent combination of education and experience (Preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Responding to signal lights, bells, intercom system, and bed/tab alarms to determine the patients’ needs.
  • Giving care and assistance to patients in respect to their personal hygiene, grooming activity, comfort, rest, nourishment and other health needs.
  • Ensuring meals are ordered within dietary restrictions and collects food trays, feeds patients requiring help, and documents all nutritional and supplemental intake per unit protocols.
  • Transporting patients or assisting patients to ambulate per physician orders.
  • Turning and repositioning patients every two hours as indicated, alone or with assistance, to prevent skin breakdown and pressure ulcers.
  • Completes basic patient data gathering by: a. Takes, records, and reports to RN temperature, blood pressure, pulse (O2 saturation) and respiration rates, height and weight, food and fluid intake/output as directed. Reports abnormal findings immediately to the primary nurse.
  • Obtains point-of-care blood glucose and reports results to RN. Reports abnormal findings immediately to responsible nurse.
  • Monitor and document patient rhythms (when assigned as Teletech).
  • Transcribe/enter orders (when assigned as Teletech).
  • Notify patient care areas if there is a change in a patient’s rhythm (when assigned as Teletech).
  • Completes secretarial duties under the direction of professional nursing staff (when assigned to Charge Entry/Ward Secretary).
  • Prepares charts for admissions, discharges, and transfers as needed (when assigned to Charge Entry/Ward Secretary).
  • Obtains medical records as requested (when assigned to Charge Entry/Ward Secretary).
  • Schedules procedures under order of provider (when assigned to Charge Entry/Ward Secretary).
  • Assures valuables sheet is complete on each admission (when assigned to Charge Entry/Ward Secretary).
  • Maintains chart forms availability and breaks down charts after patients have been discharged (when assigned to Charge Entry/Ward Secretary).
