About The Position

The Care Partner provides nursing staff support in patient care delivery, clerical functions, and organization of the unit environment, as well as equipment setup and maintenance. The emphasis on these areas depends on the assigned unit. This position is with USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, part of Keck Medicine of USC. The hospital provides community-based care backed by an academic medical center, including emergency services, specialized care, research, and clinical trials.

Requirements

• Current California Certified Nurse Assistant certification, or active enrollment in an accredited nursing program, equivalent training, and completion of at least the Fundamentals of Nursing course with a grade of B or better.
• Maintain active California Certified Nurse Assistant certification or active enrollment in an accredited nursing program. Graduates or individuals who leave an accredited nursing program will be suspended from work and given 30 calendar days to re-enroll or obtain California Certified Nurse Assistant certification.
• Ability to pass a four-hour USC Verdugo Hills Hospital Electronic Health Record data-entry training course.
• Skill in prioritizing assignments and completing work in a timely manner when faced with competing requirements and a heavy workload.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) card.
• AB 508 Certification; if not held upon hire, it must be obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer into the department and maintained through renewal before expiration.

Nice To Haves

• Six months to one year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant, preferably in an acute care setting, based on unit definition.
• Understanding of basic medical terminology and abbreviations.
