About The Position

The Care Coordinator at Levine Children's Specialty Center is responsible for completing referrals for patients, coordinating with referring and receiving practices/departments, and potentially preparing financial estimates. This role involves obtaining necessary authorizations, directing patients to in-network providers, reviewing benefits, and educating patients on their insurance coverage. The Care Coordinator also schedules surgical procedures, diagnostic tests, or other services with internal and ancillary providers, reviews schedules for accuracy, and follows up on all referrals to prevent care gaps. The position operates in a fast-paced office environment and requires the ability to sit for long periods, bend, and lift up to 10 lbs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Computer experience required.
  • Customer service experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Thorough understanding of Insurance coverage (FSC/Coverage/Plan types) and Medical Necessity policies preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical records software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Completes referrals for patients and coordinates with referring and receiving practices and/or departments.
  • May coordinate and prepare financial estimates for patients.
  • Obtains all authorizations needed.
  • Directs patients to providers in their insurance plan.
  • Reviews benefits and educates patient on insurance coverage.
  • Coordinates and schedules surgical procedures, diagnostic testing, or other services within various departments with internal and ancillary providers.
  • Reviews schedules and confirms schedules are accurate and time is properly allocated.
  • Follows up on all referrals to ensure no care gaps.
