About The Position

This position is for a Cardiovascular Specialist I in the Cardiac Cath Lab at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. The role is full-time, requiring 40 hours per week with 8-hour shifts. The specialist will be on call one night per week and every 5th weekend. A requirement for this role is to test for RCIS certification within 18 months if not already acquired.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or Allied Health Technology (e.g., Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy).
  • Graduate of Cardiovascular Interventional Program or minimum of two years of experience as a Cardiovascular Specialist.
  • Registered with and certified by the ARRT or current license as a Registered Nurse in applicable state.
  • Registry or license as it pertains to Allied Health field of expertise.
  • CPR certification.
  • ACLS certification within 90 days.
  • Able to communicate on a professional level with physicians, nurses, and other ancillary professional staff when discussing patient care, procedures, or problems.
  • Able to comprehend instructions.
  • Able to obtain/communicate information to patients of varying age group and at their level of comprehension.
  • Analytical skills necessary for problem assessment and solution with schedules and equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • RCIS certification (required to test for within 18 months if not already acquired).

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to general hospital standards, policies, and procedures to promote a cooperative work environment and contribute to overall quality of services.
  • Ensures readiness of emergency equipment and supplies, recognizes, and reacts appropriately to potential emergency situations, and provides emergency assistance as required.
  • Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, co-workers, and facility, including managing IV fluids, stock drugs, emergency drugs, and controlled substances, and operating all equipment for invasive or interventional cardiology.
  • Maintains files and compiles records according to procedure for accurate and current departmental records and reports, including electronic information systems and quality assurance monitors.
  • Communicates effectively, professionally, and positively with the team, co-workers, patients, and family members, and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Provides coverage for 24-hour emergency call for Cardiac Cath Lab, responding in a timely fashion and facilitating activities between departments for prompt patient care.
  • Administers patient care as mandated by licensure, certification, or registration, monitoring patients, administering medications, performing and assisting in procedures, and evaluating patient conditions.
  • Provides instruction, education, and consultation to co-workers, new employees, and trainees, and participates in Continuing Education lectures and meetings.
  • Performs and maintains competency for point of care testing as assigned, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Ensures age/developmentally appropriate patient procedures are provided in accordance with Age-Specific Care Guidelines, integrating this knowledge into patient care.
