About The Position

Inova Health Center - Fairfax East is seeking a dedicated Cardiac Sonographer 2 for a day-shift position, Monday through Friday. The role performs cardiac or vascular sonography and contributes to safe, accurate, high-quality patient care. Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance eligible.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography school or program, or five years of specialized training in a hospital or healthcare setting.
ARDMS registration with RDCS certification, CCI registration with RCS certification for Echo, ARDMS with RVT, or CCI with RVS certification for Vascular.
Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
One year of experience after acquiring registry in a hospital or healthcare environment performing cardiac or vascular sonography.

Responsibilities

Recognize clinical or emergent issues that may interfere with exams, take appropriate action, and communicate effectively with ordering or interpreting physicians to ensure appropriate use.
Use proper technique to inject IV contrast or other test-enhancing solutions in accordance with Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography standards.
Ensure rooms are stocked with appropriate supplies and required supplies are available for procedures.
Correctly identify patients and orders to prevent mismatched studies.
Maintain active credentials by meeting continuing education requirements and attend at least 50 percent of QA conferences.
Promote patient safety using side rails, braking mechanisms, and patient monitoring.
Report, document, and correct adverse, unsafe, or unusual conditions in the tracking system.
Provide proper care and aseptic cleaning of patient-related equipment according to department policies.
Troubleshoot equipment and report issues to biomedical engineering or vendors.
Perform or recognize the need for routine maintenance of echo vascular equipment to ensure consistent image quality.
