About The Position

Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is seeking a dedicated Cardiovascular Sonographer 1 to perform cardiac sonography examinations and support physicians in optimizing examination performance and interpretation. The position is part-time, day shift. The sonographer communicates with patients to obtain clinical history and informed consent, explains procedures, assists physicians with examinations using department protocols and appropriate precautions, and responds to clinical or emergent problems that may interfere with exams.

Requirements

• Basic Life Support certification upon starting.
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) registration with RDCS certification, or CCI registration with vascular certification, or registry eligibility with required certification obtained within one year.
• RCS certification for Echo, or ARDMS with RVT, or CCI with RVS within one year of hire.
• Recent experience in a hospital or healthcare environment as a sonographer or sonographer student.
• Graduation from an accredited diagnostic medical sonography school/program, or five years of specialized training in a hospital/healthcare setting.

• Experience as an Echo Sonographer.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with patients to obtain clinical history and informed consent from patients or their charts to help physicians optimize examination performance and interpretation.
• Explain procedures to patients and families and answer questions to ease anxiety and encourage cooperation.
• Assist physicians in performing a variety of examinations using standard department protocols, isolation precautions, and/or sterile technique.
• Recognize clinical or emergent problems that may interfere with examinations and take appropriate action to resolve them and achieve desirable outcomes.
