About The Position
The Cardiovascular Operating Room Nurse at Chandler Regional Medical Center serves as a patient advocate, using clinical expertise to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans. The role works with a multidisciplinary team to promote positive health outcomes, patient safety, clinical excellence, and compassionate care. The nurse supports complex cardiac and lung transplant cases in a high-volume, specialized surgical environment. Daily work includes reviewing consent forms, answering patient questions, conducting preoperative assessments, preparing equipment, keeping family members informed about surgical progress, and assisting the surgeon during procedures. The nurse also cares for patients before, during, and after procedures and ensures operating rooms are stocked and ready.
Requirements
- One year of RN experience.
- Bachelor of Nursing, Associate of Nursing, diploma, or foreign equivalent.
- Registered Nurse licensure in Arizona.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within six months.
- Ability to multitask effectively, remain composed under pressure, and use sound judgment in emergencies.

- One year of medical/surgical intensive care experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist the surgeon and surgical team in the operating room.
- Care for patients before, during, and after procedures.
- Develop and implement nursing care plans for surgical patients.
- Ensure operating rooms are prepared with necessary equipment and supplies.
- Review consent forms, answer patient inquiries, and conduct preoperative assessments.
- Keep family members informed about surgery progress.
- Demonstrate compassion for patients.
