About The Position

Emory Healthcare is seeking a capable Cardiovascular Registered Nurse / CVOR / RN for their internal travel team. This role involves traveling to different Emory locations within Emory Healthcare. The nurse will be responsible for caring for patients, developing a sound understanding of patient populations, and identifying appropriate standards of care. They will safely provide patient care while supporting the unit's and hospital's Vision Alignment Matrix, routinely using acquired knowledge, theory, research, and experience to respond to changes in clinical situations. The nurse will apply the Synergy Model for Care in practice and use this knowledge to personalize care for each patient/family. They will also serve as a preceptor and resource to colleagues and be a strong advocate for patients/families, maintaining courteous and professional behavior at all times. Responsibilities include assessing assigned patients, reviewing medical history, admitting diagnosis, physician's orders, nursing history, and evaluating diagnostic data. They will interview patients and families to determine needs, communicate these to the interdisciplinary health care team, and determine appropriate nursing interventions. The nurse will identify and revise appropriate standards of care and/or collaborative clinical pathways. They will administer direct nursing care, evaluate patient responses to care and education, and keep patients and families updated on progress. Developing, conducting, and evaluating patient and family education, including teaching specific procedures and explaining the rationale behind treatments, is also part of the role. Mobilizing equipment and resources, seeking assistance when needed, and formulating a plan for professional development with their manager are expected. Attending educational in-services, participating in professional activities, and documenting patient care are also key duties. Collaboration with the healthcare team, attending staff meetings, providing clinical guidance to students and ancillary staff, demonstrating competency in new equipment and procedures, serving on committees, and performing other related duties are also required.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
2.5 years of recent and relevant nursing experience in Cardivoscular Operating Room.
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia.
BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, FHM (relevant to role) required.
Professional certification in at least 1 relevant specialty area required.
Completion of professional certification in relevant specialty area required within 1 year of employment with ESP.

Responsibilities

Serves as a preceptor and resource to colleagues (such as less experienced nurses) and strong advocate for patients/families.
Maintains courteous and professional behavior at all times.
Assesses assigned patients; reviews medical history, admitting diagnosis, physician's orders, nursing history, and evaluation of diagnostic data.
Interviews patient and family to determine patient needs; communicates these to interdisciplinary health care team members as appropriate.
Determines appropriate nursing interventions for identified problems, symptoms, behavioral changes.
Identifies appropriate standards of care and/or collaborative clinical pathways to guide the plan of care; revises as appropriate.
Administers direct nursing care to assigned patients based on priorities and timeframes.
Evaluates patients' responses to delivery of nursing care and patient education for self-care.
Keeps patients and family up to date on progress.
Develops, conducts and evaluates patient and family education in discussing plan of care.
Teaches family and patient to perform specific procedures; documents activities.
When required explains rational and/or principles behind the physiology or consequences of treatments.
Determines and mobilizes equipment and resources necessary for successful patient care; seeks assistance in completing nursing interventions.
Works with manager to formulate plan for professional development.
Attends educational in-services as appropriate.
Participate in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments.
Following established charting procedures, documents all aspects of patient care to show progress or changes in patient's condition.
Collaborates with members of the health care team to determine patient needs and needs of significant others in planning the treatment.
Attends scheduled staff meetings.
Provides clinical guidance to students and ancillary staff.
Demonstrates competency in all new equipment and procedures.
Serves on committees.
Performs other related duties as required.
