About The Position

Houston Cardiovascular Associates is seeking a Full-Time Vascular Sonographer to join their team in Houston, TX. This experienced sonographer will perform a variety of routine to complex vascular ultrasound examinations, including carotid dopplers, lower extremity arterial and venous studies, ABIs, abdominal aortic ultrasounds, aorta-iliac studies, renal dopplers, and upper extremity arterial and venous studies. The role requires the ability to work independently as the primary member of the vascular team. The sonographer will locate, evaluate, and record pertinent anatomical, pathological, and functional data using ultrasound equipment, complete preliminary reports with conclusions and summaries for physicians, and transmit exam data. They will also participate in quality and compliance initiatives for IAC accreditation, assist physicians in vein procedures (vein mapping, ablations, sclerotherapy, ultrasound-guided access), maintain accurate patient records, ensure high-quality imaging, and educate/prepare patients for procedures. This position is based in a busy private cardiology practice with a large echo-vascular team, serving 20 physicians in a high-volume cardiac and vascular setting.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Vascular Sonographer.
  • Experience doing all listed studies (carotid dopplers, lower extremity arterial and venous studies, ABIs, abdominal aortic ultrasounds, aorta-iliac studies, renal dopplers, upper extremity arterial and venous studies).
  • Active credentials by either ARDMS or CCI.
  • Excellent interpersonal and critical thinking skills.
  • Experienced and able to work independently in a very busy private cardiology practice setting.
  • Work well within a team.
  • Maintain the required credentials for their certification.
  • BLS/CPR preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of routine to complex carotid dopplers, lower extremity arterial studies, lower extremity venous studies (for reflux AND DVT evaluation), ABIs, abdominal aortic ultrasounds, aorta - iliac studies, renal dopplers, and/or upper extremity arterial and venous studies.
  • Locate, evaluate, and record pertinent anatomical, pathological and functional data while using different systems of ultrasound equipment.
  • Complete all preliminary reports, including typing up conclusions and summarizing data for the physicians.
  • Transmit exam to compatible DICOM storage applications, process preliminary technical data and exam findings in designated interpreting system.
  • Communicate any significant findings to the attending reading physician.
  • Actively participate in quality and compliance initiatives to maintain accreditation with the IAC standards.
  • Perform vascular ultrasound examinations including arterial, venous including insufficiency/ reflux scans, carotid, and abdominal studies.
  • Assist physicians in vein procedures such as vein mapping, vein ablations, sclerotherapy, and ultrasound-guided access.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure high-quality imaging for diagnostic interpretation.
  • Educate and prepare patients for vein procedures, ensuring comfort and safety.
