About The Position

The Cardiovascular Cath Lab Technologist assists physicians during invasive cardiac and peripheral diagnostic and interventional procedures. The technologist is responsible for maintaining a sterile environment, operating specialized cardiac equipment, monitoring patient hemodynamics, and supporting advanced circulatory devices, including Impella and intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP).

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of recent Cardiac Cath Lab experience.
  • Strong experience assisting with invasive cardiac procedures.
  • Experience with Impella and Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) is required.
  • BLS (AHA)
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) preferred
  • Radiology Certification preferred
  • ACLS must be obtained within 3 months of employment (if not already held).
  • Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory experience
  • Hemodynamic monitoring
  • Sterile procedural technique
  • Cardiac rhythm recognition
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office/Google Suite)

Nice To Haves

  • Permanent pacemaker placement experience is preferred.
  • Mac lab experience is preferred, EPIC.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a health science field preferred.
  • RCIS certification or Radiologic Technologist License within one year of hire (facility requirement) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare procedure rooms, sterile trays, and specialized equipment for cardiac catheterization procedures.
  • Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral procedures.
  • Support temporary and permanent pacemaker placements.
  • Assist with circulatory support devices, including Impella and IABP.
  • Set up, calibrate, and monitor hemodynamic equipment.
  • Obtain, calculate, and analyse hemodynamic data, cardiac output, and oximetry readings.
  • Operate power injectors and associated sterile equipment.
  • Assist with patient positioning and monitoring.
  • Maintain digital imaging and cardiovascular information systems (CVIS).
  • Assist with vascular access, sheath removal, radial band application, and hemostasis.
  • Recognize and interpret cardiac arrhythmias.
  • Maintain inventory and ensure procedure readiness.
  • Follow radiation safety protocols and infection prevention standards.
  • Participate in the department's on-call rotation.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and quality checks.
  • Safely lift up to 40 lbs., push/pull up to 100 lbs., and stand for extended periods.
