About The Position

The Cardiovascular Cardiographic Interpreter is responsible for monitoring patient's cardiac rhythms accurately and identifying and initiating appropriate actions should ECG pattern change on a monitor screen. This role involves interpreting cardiovascular cardiac rhythm, identifying patient cardiac rhythm as observed on a monitoring device, and initiating appropriate action should ECG pattern change. The interpreter will run permanent rhythm strips when appropriate, inform the nurse in charge of pattern changes, and identify rhythm strips with patient name, rate time, and interval reading. The position requires the ability to interpret arrhythmias with sophisticated features such as sinus arrest, pacemakers, aberrancy, and blocked beats, as well as distinguish subtle EKG findings, concealed conduction, reciprocal conduction, trifascicular block, and his bundle recording. Additionally, the interpreter must identify and describe the pathophysiological effect on EKG rhythm. The role also includes performing all clerical duties as assigned and other duties as assigned. The Cardiovascular Cardiographic Interpreter must attend all required safety training programs, understand their responsibilities related to general and department/service safety and job-related hazards, and follow the hospital exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens. A key aspect of this role is demonstrating respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment, and promoting effective working relations both inter- and intradepartmentally to promote system-wide continuity of care.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Successful completion of the 40-hour ARH course in Basic Dysrhythmia Recognition and successful completion of the required examination.
One (1) month to three (3) months of on-the-job training required to attain proficiency in the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
Formal training in a certified or licensed program with a minimum of twelve (12) months of training; OR Five (5) years of experience in advanced monitoring.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Must be proficient in Windows, Microsoft Word, and other basic computer applications.
Must be detail-oriented and thorough due to the complexity of monitoring responsibilities.
Must be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of contacts at all levels of the organization and with external organizations.
Maintains strict confidentiality regarding protected health information and provider information.
Must demonstrate commitment to the Code of Ethics of applicable governing boards.
Required to comply with OSHA regulations for N95 respirator training and fit testing.
Knowledge of basic cardiac rhythm interpretation and cardiac monitoring practices.
Ability to recognize abnormal cardiac rhythms and communicate findings appropriately.
Ability to maintain accurate records and monitoring documentation.
Strong observational, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
