About The Position

This role involves direct patient care within a cardiovascular setting, reporting to the stress lab supervisor and overseen by registered technical staff. Responsibilities include performing noninvasive testing, preparing patients for examinations, assisting with patient transport, and collecting data. Key skills involve obtaining medical history, providing patient care, and conducting exercise testing under supervision. The incumbent is expected to perform other similar duties as assigned.

Requirements

Successfully completed the hospital dysrhythmia course and exam, with annual updates.
Proficient in reading and writing in English.

Nice To Haves

Three years prior cardiovascular experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Provides age-appropriate care to patients, demonstrating knowledge of developmental stages and applying developmental theories and concepts when implementing care.
Prepares patients for cardiac procedures by explaining the procedure, interviewing the patient to obtain history, presenting documentation to medical staff, and preparing the patient for electrocardiogram.
Performs Noninvasive Stress Tests: Initiates procedures via department protocol under supervision of a medical provider once medically cleared. Performs ongoing monitoring and documents findings. Initiates emergency procedures according to established hospital policy.
Communicates supply needs to appropriate staff, determining the need for replacement supplies before depletion, performing daily evaluations for adequate supplies, and reviewing expiration dates. Stores supplies in appropriate sites as directed by supervisor.
Maintains equipment in a clean and proper working order, cleaning all equipment and patient care areas according to procedure daily.
Communicates effectively with the team and patients, interacting respectfully and informatively with patients, clearly communicating patient care information to the team, and recognizing culturally based patient and family needs.
Is knowledgeable of and initiates emergency procedures, responding effectively in emergency situations and maintaining patient safety at all times. Communicates effectively with appropriate personnel.
Functions as a member of the team by assisting team members with clinical and non-clinical activities and providing feedback related to the team process.
Professional Development: Maintains CPR and Critical Care Arrhythmia Certification according to departmental policy. Follows proper procedure for incident reporting, substance precautions, infection control, nuclear isotope spill and disaster response. Notifies appropriate safety personnel in the case of a nuclear isotope spill in the stress lab area.
