About The Position

This per diem position will be responsible for the care and management of cardiothoracic surgical patients in the ICU. The role involves working in conjunction with the attending cardiothoracic surgeon and non-surgical providers for the medical care of cardiothoracic surgical patients. Responsibilities include performing initial evaluations, history, and physical examinations of assigned patients, and placing invasive monitoring lines such as central venous catheters, dialysis lines, and arterial access. The position also entails participation in ongoing education, quality, and research projects, contributing to service-related databases, and educating patients and families during their inpatient course. Requirements

Must be Board Certified in acute care
A Valid Pennsylvania Medical License or ability to obtain one is required
Experience as an APC, managing an ICU or OHU environment

Responsibilities

Work in conjunction with the attending cardiothoracic surgeon, and non-surgical providers, for medical care of cardiothoracic surgical patients.
Perform initial evaluation, history, and physical examination of all assigned patients.
Placement of invasive monitoring lines including central venous catheters, dialysis lines, and arterial access.
Participate in ongoing education, quality, and research projects.
Contribute to service-related databases as indicated.
Participate in education of patients and families during their inpatient course.
Support the mission and goals of Lehigh Valley Health Network.
