This per diem position will be responsible for the care and management of cardiothoracic surgical patients in the ICU. The role involves working in conjunction with the attending cardiothoracic surgeon and non-surgical providers for the medical care of cardiothoracic surgical patients. Responsibilities include performing initial evaluations, history, and physical examinations of assigned patients, and placing invasive monitoring lines such as central venous catheters, dialysis lines, and arterial access. The position also entails participation in ongoing education, quality, and research projects, contributing to service-related databases, and educating patients and families during their inpatient course.
