Cardiothoracic Operating Room Registered Nurse
About The Position
Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg, Virginia is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Operating Room (OR) Team. This is a full-time, day shift position with required call. The department consists of two operating rooms and one hybrid OR, where you will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team including Cardio-thoracic Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Cardiovascular Technologists, and Physician Assistants. The CTOR surgical team works closely with the CCU staff for post-operative care. The team offers one-on-one training and precepting for those new to the Cardiac Operating Room, providing best-in-class education. The role involves managing complex open heart and thoracic surgeries and delivering safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room.
Requirements
- Associates Degree - Nursing
- Registered Nurse Licensure
- BLS within 90 days of hire
- 1 Year of Operating Room experience- general OR is accepted
Nice To Haves
- BSN or MSN Preferred
- CNOR- Certified Nurse Operating Room Preferred
- Previous Cardiac Operating Room Experience preferred
- Perioperative training
- Scrub and/or Circulator experience Preferred
Responsibilities
- Maintaining a safe and sterile environment throughout the surgical procedure for the cardiothoracic patient.
- Managing surgical instruments.
- Maintaining sterility and a sterile field.
- Assisting the surgeon by providing necessary tools.
- Performing surgical counts to ensure no instruments are left behind.
- Coordinating with the broader surgical team.
- Managing complex open heart and thoracic surgeries to include bypass surgery, valve replacement, aortic dissection repair, heart transplant, TAVR and open + minimally invasive thoracic cases.
- Responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room.
