About The Position

The Cardiopulmonary Manager provides 24-hour leadership, operational oversight, and clinical expertise to the cardiopulmonary department. This role is responsible for daily operations, staff performance, patient outcomes, regulatory compliance, and budget management. If the incumbent is an RN, this role combines cardiopulmonary departmental management responsibilities with clinical support initiatives aimed at improving staff competency, patient outcomes, and workflow efficiency. The position is split between management of cardiopulmonary services and broader nursing support functions, including staff education, policy and procedure management, quality improvement initiatives, and flexible clinical support during periods of high patient volume or operational need.

Requirements

  • Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license or Current California Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in cardiopulmonary, cardiovascular ICU, or respiratory therapy, or two (2) years of recent clinical RN experience in acute care.
  • Minimum one to two (1–2) years of supervisory, charge nurse, or management experience.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and best practices in cardiopulmonary care.
  • Proficient in data analysis and performance improvement methodologies.
  • Must have relevant training, experience or current competence in care of all ages regarding all aspects of respiratory therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative direction to cardiopulmonary services to ensure that programs, policies and procedures are developed and implemented.
  • Interviews and hires all new employees, and ensures that orientation, continuing education and in-service education is provided to all departmental personnel.
  • Supervises subordinates in a skilled manner to assure adherence to policies, problems, standards of care and quality assurance programs.
  • Prepares and monitors capital, personnel, and supply budgets for cost centers enumerated above.
  • Prepare for and participate in regulatory surveys and inspections.
