About The Position

This position is for a full-time Cardiology Triage Nurse, working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, during the day shift in Naperville. The role involves managing patient health concerns via telephone, utilizing physician-approved protocols for assessment, education, and intervention. Responsibilities include responding to patient messages and test results, scheduling appointments, tests, and procedures, and authorizing/denying prescription renewals. The nurse will provide patient and family education on diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition, and health maintenance, acting as a patient advocate and a clinical resource for other staff. Accurate patient documentation and adherence to current nursing practices are essential.

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in nursing.
  • Knowledge of nursing skills in accordance with nursing standards in the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA.
  • Prefer a minimum of one year of professional nursing experience in a clinical or hospital setting but may consider new grad under specific circumstances.

Responsibilities

  • Manages patient health concerns and symptoms via telephone interaction utilizing physician-approved protocols for assessment and management.
  • Educates patients and/or family members about diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness.
  • Responds to patient questions and appropriately provides reassurance while responding to patient concerns.
  • Assesses the patient's medical condition and provides medical advice using Duly Health and Care protocols, Provider directive or an approved Nursing Triage Manual.
  • Responds to and prioritizes incoming patient messages and test results.
  • Schedules appointments as needed.
  • May schedule tests and procedures and obtain insurance prior-authorization.
  • Reviews and authorizes/denies provider ordered prescriptions in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed patient records and pertinent information; posts tests and documents patient education provided.
  • Enters all pertinent communications with the patient into the Medical Record.
  • Performs and delegates a variety of tasks to facilitate patient care.
  • Aware of coding and reimbursement issues.
  • Available to other office clinical and non-clinical staff to answer questions and provide assistance as appropriate.
  • Assists in orienting and training new staff.
  • Seeks opportunities to improve or enhance nursing and leadership skills.
  • Utilizes current nursing practices to provide patient care while focusing on the needs of the patient and exemplifying service excellence, care, concern, respect and cooperation.
  • Functions in the role of patient advocate by being in the position of initial contact for patient-related issues.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
