About The Position

The Cardiology Technician (LEVELS I –III) collaborates with other team members of the healthcare delivery team to deliver quality, safe, and efficient health care. Is qualified by specific didactic, laboratory, and clinical technological education to obtain and be responsible for basic 12 and 15 lead EKGs on patients of all ages. More specifically involving; holter/event monitor hook ups; regular, pharmacologic, and other specialty adult stress tests, for diagnostic purposes. This includes proper maintenance, and cleaning of the equipment. The Cardiology Technician is an integral member of the cardiology service team qualified to participate in the care of both inpatients and outpatients. Demonstrates an understanding of the procedures being performed and anticipates the needs of the cardiologist. Cardiology Technician LEVEL I: Responsible for performing 12-lead EKG’s within the department and on all units of the hospital as needed and ordered by the physician. Responsible for responding to Rapid Response and Code Blue calls. Cardiology Technician LEVEL II: Responsible for all LEVEL I skills and provides assistance to the nurse and physicians during regular, pharmacologic, and other specialty adult stress test, and for EEG testing. Cardiology Technician LEVEL III: Responsible for all LEVEL I and LEVEL II skills, and holter/event monitor hook-ups, Muse admin user status, pacemaker/device interrogations and training/orientation of new employees in each modality.

Requirements

  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • One (1) year prior experience in EKG or stress testing laboratory, medical assistant position, or completion of our in-house training and competency required.
  • Current and ongoing BLS required
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks.
  • Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations.
  • Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks.
  • Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment.
  • Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking.
  • Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients.
  • Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.
  • Pushes equipment weighing approximately 35 pounds at times throughout the day.
  • Ability to lift 10 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of an accredited EKG/Cardiology Technician certificate program preferred
