About The Position

This position is for a Cardiology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, providing inpatient coverage for an assignment from May 1 through July 30. The role involves conducting comprehensive patient assessments, developing and implementing individualized treatment plans, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and managing chronic conditions. Key responsibilities also include providing patient education and counseling, performing procedures as permitted by state regulations, and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care. Accurate and thorough documentation of patient care is required. The EMR system used is Cerner. This is an independent contractor (1099) role, and as such, does not include typical W-2 employment benefits like health insurance, retirement contributions, or paid time off. Travel and lodging benefits are provided for candidates residing more than 50 miles from the facility.

Requirements

  • Active Arizona licensure
  • Board certification
  • AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Minimum 1-year Cardiology experience or equivalent
  • Strong clinical knowledge and assessment skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients
  • Proficiency in performing physical examinations and procedures relevant to their specialty
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to diagnose and manage complex medical conditions
  • Time management skills to efficiently manage a patient workload
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a healthcare team
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics) OR Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
  • Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Arizona OR Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Arizona
  • National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP]) OR National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • At least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty

Responsibilities
