About The Position
The Cardiology Laboratory Vascular Ultrasound Technologist operates diagnostic ultrasound equipment using high-frequency sound waves upon the order of a qualified healthcare provider. The technologist follows the policies, procedures, and protocols of the KSC Cardiology Laboratory Department and Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. Depending on the assigned clinic location, the role includes performing venous and/or arterial studies or participating in Vein Clinic therapeutic procedures. The technologist uses a Radiology Information System (RIS) for clerical processes along with a designated Patient Archiving System (PACS). Other technical or non-technical duties may be assigned when the supervisor determines the employee’s training, experience, and credentials are adequate. Extended shifts may be required as directed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited program.
- RVT or RVS certification.
- BLS certification.
- At least 2 years of direct clinical experience in vascular ultrasound, including 1 cumulative year in venous sonography.
- Demonstrated ability to use a computer keyboard and grasp the elements of image acquisition.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- May be required to work extended shifts as directed.
Nice To Haves
- Healthcare-related degree.
- Experience with radiofrequency vein ablations, other therapeutic vein agents and procedures, PACS, and RIS.
- Bilingual or multilingual.
Responsibilities
- Operate ultrasound equipment for diagnostic purposes upon the order of a qualified healthcare provider, following departmental and clinic policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Perform venous and/or arterial studies, or participate in Vein Clinic therapeutic procedures, depending on the assigned clinic site.
- Use a Radiology Information System (RIS) and designated Patient Archiving System (PACS) to complete clerical processes.
- Perform other technical or non-technical duties when deemed appropriate by the supervisor based on training, experience, and credentials.
