About The Position

The Cardiology Coder is responsible for coding procedures and entering charges in compliance with federal and state regulations and internal policies. The role coordinates with the Practice Coordinator and Revenue Integrity to ensure necessary documentation is available to support selected procedure codes, or to code cases as needed. The position also participates in audits to assess coding accuracy and develops methods to address identified coding issues.

Requirements

• Must hold a coding credential: RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CCS, or RN.
• Two years of hospital and/or physician practice coding experience, or successful completion of the one-year Revenue Integrity Internship Program.

Responsibilities

• Code procedures and enter charges in compliance with federal and state regulations and internal policies.
• Coordinate with the Practice Coordinator and Revenue Integrity to ensure documentation supports selected procedure codes or to code cases as needed.
• Participate in audits to evaluate the accuracy of selected codes.
• Develop methodologies to improve identified coding issues.
