About The Position

The Cardio Diagnostics Associate assists the Manager, ACM, echo supervisor, and EKG/MUSE coordinator in the Cardiodiagnostics department with clinical and non-clinical duties. This role involves receiving visitors and patients, directing them, scheduling procedures, and updating staff on schedule changes or cancellations. The associate will coordinate with cardiology groups and anesthesiologists regarding procedure times, order and organize supplies, and liaise with other departments like facilities. Key aspects of this position include communication, organization, and personal responsibility. The associate will also serve as a backup for the EKG department and assist in the Stress lab when needed. This position operates Monday through Friday, with shifts either from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM or 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • 2-3 years previous EKG experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office products
  • Good oral and written Communications skills
  • Ability to perform EKGs and Identify cardiac arrhythmias
  • Certified by NCCT as a NCET, or an Equivalent certification within 6 months of employment
  • CPR/BLS certified
  • CPR and BLS Certified within 6 months Of employment
  • Ability to collaborate with customers, both internal and external for the purpose of answering requests to the cardiodiagnostics department.
  • Ability to lift and or move patients.
  • Ability to work under Stressful conditions and in difficult situations.
  • Ability to stoop, bend and stand for extended periods of time.
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials and life threatening diseases.
  • Ability to recognize the needs and behaviors of age groups of patients treated (i.e. understanding child growth and development, normal Patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging).
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.

  • Prior experience with various age groups is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assisting coordinators with day-to-day operations of the cardiodiagnostics department.
  • Ordering and stocking supplies, keeping supply rooms in order, and managing Iron Mountain off-site storage.
  • Editing reports and inputting data into Xcelera.
  • Performing minimal typing and utilizing knowledge of Excel.
  • Patient transport when needed.
  • Performing all job duties under the strictest “customer service” standards according to established policies and procedures.
  • Promoting increased utilization of CHMC services by maintaining customer-focused responses.
  • Promoting patient safety by reporting issues through established channels and participating in safety initiatives.
  • Responsible for outpatient call backs to ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Greeting and acknowledging patients and family members in a professional and welcoming manner.
  • Utilizing appropriate telephone etiquette.
  • Ensuring patient and patient family members’ confidential information is handled according to established guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Addressing and handling patients and patient family members according to their specific needs.
  • Maintaining professional composure and demeanor under stressful situations.
  • Directing or escorting patients to service areas if required.
  • Facilitating patients at the front desk to proper departments and maintaining a positive flow.
  • Notifying the department of patient’s arrival.
  • Monitoring patients in the waiting room to ensure prompt service.
  • Answering phones and informing department team leaders of information as needed.
  • Retrieving reports and faxing them to physician offices as needed.
  • Serving as a backup Cardidagnostic tech 1 to perform EKGs when needed due to unscheduled and scheduled PTO.
  • Assisting with EKGs in the ED department when needed due to increased volume.
  • Assisting the stress lab to prep patients during times of increased volume or during low staffing.
