About The Position

Under general supervision, performs a variety of specialized technical duties involving the sonograph and physiological pressure monitoring systems; and performs other related duties as required. Maintains, demonstrates and is assessed on the knowledge and skills necessary to provide for physical, psychosocial and cultural needs appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.

Requirements

• Possession of A.A. degree in related cardiopulmonary health science or closely allied health field is desired or post high school vocational/specialized training.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience preferred as cardiovascular technician in an acute care hospital setting preferably in cardiac echo/vascular sonography department.
• BLS certification.
• Certified in vascular and cardiac ultrasound
• Knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology.
• Knowledge of Ultrasonography of the heart and vascular anatomy.
• Knowledge of Diagnostic and monitoring equipment.
• Knowledge of Ultrasound techniques and examinations
• Knowledge of Report writing.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of specialized technical duties involving the sonograph and physiological pressure monitoring systems.
• Operates equipment used in monitoring and other diagnostic equipment.
• Manages emergency or crisis situations; requires judgment/action which could result in undesirable patient outcomes.
• Understands, interprets, and applies rules, regulations, standards, and procedures.
• Keeps abreast of developments in the field of expertise.
• Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Prepares necessary reports and records.
