About The Position

The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures on patients to assess heart function and blood flow. This role involves patient positioning, explaining procedures, performing quality control, preparing and setting up medical supplies, developing ultrasound film, and assisting with data compilation. The technologist also provides training to new staff and students, adhering to university and unit policies. This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, with potential for varied shifts including days, nights, on-call, and weekend coverage. Requirements

  • Associate degree in relevant field required
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required

  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.

Responsibilities

  • Searches for abnormalities in blood flow sounds, heart rhythm, oxygen saturation, and the appearance of the heart.
  • Positions patients and explains procedures.
  • Performs quality control functions.
  • Evaluates ultrasounds for diagnostic quality.
  • Prepares and sets up medical supplies using aseptic techniques.
  • Develops ultrasound film and matches it with the appropriate paperwork for interpretation.
  • Assists with the maintenance and compilation of statistical data.
  • Provides training to new and student cardiac ultrasound technologists.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
