The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures on patients to detect abnormalities in blood flow, heart rhythm, oxygen saturation, and the appearance of the heart. This role involves patient positioning, explaining procedures, performing quality control, evaluating ultrasound images, preparing medical supplies using aseptic techniques, developing ultrasound film, and assisting with data compilation. Additionally, the technologist will provide training to new and student cardiac ultrasound technologists and adhere to all university and unit-level policies and procedures.
