About The Position

Corewell Health Grosse Pointe Hospital is a 280-bed acute care campus. Opened in 1945, it offers medical, surgical, emergency, obstetric, and critical care services. The Cotton Family Birth Center is a designated Baby-Friendly® birth center, and the hospital is home to The James and Patricia Anderson Surgical Center, a leading-edge, hybrid surgical suite. This position involves performing diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations, including two-dimensional imaging, spectral and color flow Doppler, m-mode, transesophageal, exercise and pharmacologic echocardiograms, and saline and left ventricular opacification studies on adult patients. The role also includes instructing medical personnel on technical performance, clinical application, and cardiac pathology related to cardiac ultrasound, and may involve acting as a mentor or preceptor for other ultrasonographers and/or students.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent
  • Graduate of Diagnostic Ultrasound Program or equivalent.
  • Minimal as gained at student level.
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire required OR CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Sonographer (S) - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography EXCLUDE Cardiac 1 Year required
  • CRT-Breast Sonographer (BS) - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography EXCLUDES Cardiac, General, Vascular 1 Year required

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations consisting of: Two-dimensional imaging, spectral and color flow Doppler, m-mode; trans esophageal; exercise and pharmacologic echocardiograms; saline and left ventricular opacification studies on adult patients.
  • Instruction of medical personnel in technical performance, clinical application, and cardiac pathology as it pertains to cardiac ultrasound.
  • May act as a mentor/preceptor for other Ultrasonographers and/or students.
