Cardiac Tech - Vascular & Interventional Center
About The Position
Sentara Norfolk General is looking for a Cardiac Technician to join the team. This is a full-time position with a day shift, working three 12-hour shifts from 7 am to 7 pm. Cardiac Technicians assist Registered Nurses (RNs) in the preparation and recovery of patients undergoing procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization, Interventional Radiology, and Cardiac Operating Room. The department handles 20-30 patients daily. In the recovery area, Cardiac Techs are responsible for patient post-operative care, including monitoring, cleaning, and repositioning; obtaining EKGs and specimens; removing arterial and venous sheaths from femoral, radial, and brachial sites; assisting patients with needs like eating and toileting while on bedrest; and transporting patients to inpatient rooms or assisting with discharge. The role requires the ability to lift, push, pull, and stand for extended periods.
Requirements
- High School degree or equivalent
- patient care technician, cardiac tech, healthcare tech in similar setting experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Aid RNs throughout the prep and recovery of Cardiac Catheterization, Interventional Radiology, and Cardiac OR patients.
- Settle patients in the recovery room postoperatively (hooking to the monitor, cleaning, repositioning).
- Obtain EKGs or any specimens ordered.
- Remove arterial and venous sheaths from the femoral, radial and brachial sites.
- Help patients that are on bedrest with eating, toileting, or any other request.
- Transport patients to their inpatient room or assist in the discharge process.
