About The Position

The Cardiac Sonographer provides high quality patient care utilizing the skills and knowledge of the profession. This role involves performing echocardiograms and Vascular Ultrasound in accordance with established practices and procedures, applying knowledge of anatomy, physiology, positioning and imaging techniques to optimize the quality of ultrasound images. The position requires safely performing all patient care responsibilities in accordance with professional standards and the organization’s policies and procedures, including positioning patients, explaining procedures, and setting up equipment. Effective determination and prioritization of patient needs, accurate documentation, and maintaining infection control precautions are essential. The role also includes participation in Quality Assurance activities, mandatory training, and adherence to policies and regulations governing patient rights and confidentiality. The Cardiac Sonographer is expected to obtain 15 hours of echo-related CME over a 3-year period.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) OR Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree with completion of ultrasound program
  • 2 years related experience in an Outpatient Practice setting

Responsibilities

  • Performs echocardiograms and Vascular Ultrasound in accordance with established practices and procedures.
  • Applies knowledge of anatomy, physiology, positioning and imaging techniques to optimize the quality of ultrasound images.
  • Must safely perform all patient care responsibilities in accordance with professional standards and the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Positions patient on examination table for optimum testing procedure and conditions.
  • Explains procedure in easy-to-understand terms based on professional knowledge to relieve patient of pre-testing anxiety.
  • Sets-up equipment to administer the particular procedure in a timely fashion.
  • Must effectively determine and set priorities to meet patient needs.
  • Provide proper and accurate documentation of patient care in the patient medical record.
  • Ensures that patients receive timely and appropriate care.
  • Maintains infection control precautions and identifies potential infection control problems.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance activities within the Department.
  • Participates in annual recertification training, compliance training, and HIPAA training, as well as all other mandatory in-service programs.
  • Conforms to policies and regulations governing patient rights and confidentiality of information.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Obtain 15 hours of echo related CME over a 3 year period.
