About The Position

This is a Talent Pool posting for all Cardiac Sonographer vacancies. The Peter Munk Cardiac Centre (PMCC) program provides world-class cardiovascular care and is a major referral centre, one of the largest programs of its kind in North America. The position offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment using state-of-the-art technology to perform echocardiograms on a uniquely complex patient population.

Requirements

• Completion of a recognized post diploma Cardiovascular Principles and Instrumentation (C.P.I.) program
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.), Level II Basic Rescuer Certification
• Minimum of two (2) years recent cardiac ultrasound experience
• Excellent problem recognition and problem solving skills
• Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
• Excellent hand-eye coordination
• Ability to function effectively in stressful situations
• Computer literacy required
• Registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
• Registration with Sonography Canada or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)

Responsibilities

• Perform ultrasound imaging procedures, as outlined in the procedure manuals to aid in patient diagnosis and/or treatment
• Operating, troubleshooting and ensuring ultrasound, echocardiology/ancillary equipment and instruments are performing in an efficient and effective manner
• Preparing written and electronic reports required to document all procedures and test results
• Performing other related patient handling responsibilities to facilitate the provision of optimal patient care
• Participating in teaching, educational, research, safety and quality improvement programs/activities
