About The Position

A-Team Solutions LLC is seeking a full-time cardiac sonographer for a contract position available at the VA San Diego HealthCare System. The contract is for 1 year with the possibility of up to 3 additional years. The shifts are 8 hours, with call required and overtime possible.

Requirements

Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Sonographer technologist program.
American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification.
2 years of hospital experience.
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RSCS) Credential or CCI Credential as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).
Registration by ARDMS as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS).

Responsibilities

Generate real-time 2-D, M-mode, doppler (with continuous wave and pulsed), color flow, transesophageal, and dobutamine echo studies.
Evaluate all cardiac structures and flows using specified imaging modalities.
Coordinate the scheduling of patients.
Generate reports and maintain patient records.
Review test results with the interpreting physician.
Utilize electronic medical records for scheduling information, patient exam notes, and results.
Use simple computer-based data entry forms for recording preliminary data from each examination.
Maintain logs of patient data and a library of videotapes and hardcopy tracings.
Perform elementary preventative maintenance of equipment and coordinate service with Biomedical Engineering and outside service companies.
Recognize normal anatomy and functional anatomy in diseased conditions.
Detect and distinguish normal from abnormal ultrasound images and doppler shifts.
Recognize appropriate heart sounds, pulse waves, and abnormal heart rhythms during exercise.
Perform daily calibration of equipment.
Recognize and provide for the psychosocial needs of patients and their families, including explaining procedures to reduce anxiety and gain cooperation.
