The Cardiac Sonographer performs routine and emergency echocardiograms, including 2D, 3D, Doppler, Transesophageal, and Stress Echocardiograms. This role involves recording quality imaging, explaining procedures to patients, operating and maintaining equipment, analyzing patient medical records, and preparing preliminary reports for cardiologists. The position also includes participation in quality improvement activities, maintaining patient confidentiality, and instructing students or other healthcare personnel. Additionally, the Cardiac Sonographer attends meetings, participates in conferences, and cultivates a collaborative work environment. Level 4 Cardiac Sonographers have additional responsibilities such as participating in research, performing inpatient echocardiograms on weekends and holidays, acting as a resource in leadership's absence, and troubleshooting equipment and EMR/PAC systems.
