About The Position
Cleveland Clinic’s Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to join their team. This institute is recognized as one of the top healthcare organizations in the country for cardiac care, providing patients with a variety of heart, vascular, and thoracic diseases with the highest level of patient care and innovative treatments. Cardiac Sonographers are crucial in assisting physicians by using sophisticated diagnostic ultrasound equipment to create real-time images of the heart. This role involves acquiring data on the heart's anatomy and physiology, evaluating cardiac abnormalities, assessing valve function, investigating causes of symptoms like murmurs and shortness of breath, tracking chronic heart conditions, and assisting with imaging during stress echocardiograms and in the operating room for valve or device implantation. The position is eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000. The hiring level (Cardiac Sonographer I, II, III) will be determined by the candidate's educational background. The typical work schedule is 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Sonography, Vascular Technology, or Exercise Science or graduate of a cardiac ultrasound program (minimum of 18 month program) and/or 2 years of full-time echo experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from American Heart Association (AHA).
- Demonstrated knowledge of m-mode, 2D and doppler calculations and cardiac hemodynamics.
- Familiar with computers and ability to learn related programs.
Nice To Haves
- New hires must obtain the Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or the Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) credential from Cardiac Credentialing International within one year of hire date.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic procedures to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics in accordance with accepted protocols as directed by physicians.
- Set up and adjust all equipment and manually maneuvers transducers to perform exams.
- Implement safety standards and perform appropriate quality control procedures.
- Perform routine and complex studies and assist physicians in a variety of imaging procedures.
- Recognize significant structures, artifacts, pathology, and equipment limitations.
