About The Position

This is a casual position requiring a minimum of two 8-hour shifts per month, with varying work days and hours. The role involves providing safe and effective exercise and quality care to adult clients in the Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programs. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited college with a major in exercise science.
  • Three to six months previous experience in a cardiac rehabilitation program or internship.
  • One to three months on-the-job training.
  • EKG Telemetry Monitoring course required.
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification required.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
  • Weight Demands: Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force.
  • Physical Activity Constantly Performed: Fingering/Touching, Grasping, Hearing, Reaching, Seeing/Visual, Speaking/talking.
  • Physical Activity Frequently Performed: Balancing, Carrying, Crouching, Distinguish colors, Keyboarding/typing, Lifting, Pulling/Pushing, Repetitive Motions, Standing, Stooping/bending, Twisting, Walking.
  • Physical Activity Occasionally Performed: Climbing, Crawling, Kneeling, Sitting.
  • Job Hazards: Rare (1-33%): Chemical agents (Toxic, Corrosive, Flammable, Latex). Occasionally (34%-66%): Biological agents (primary air born and blood born viruses) (Jobs with Patient contact), Blood or Body Fluid (BBF), Physical hazards (noise, temperature, lighting, wet floors, outdoors, sharps) (more than ordinary office environment). Not Related: Explosives (pressurized gas), Electrical Shock/Static, Radiation Alpha, Beta and Gamma, Radiation Non-Ionizing.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters level degree preferred.
  • Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (RCEP) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete admission assessments and formulate initial exercise prescriptions based on identified patient needs and history.
  • Formulate initial exercise plans considering physical needs, patient goals, and discharge plans, assessing functional capacity and patient preferences for activity and exercise.
  • Assess patient tolerance to activity and learning opportunities, updating exercise prescriptions each session and noting modifications based on patient response.
  • Implement and document the plan of care, including participant's tolerance of prescribed activity (RPE, RPD, HR, EKG), exercise prescription, home exercise plan, and risk factor/goal sheets.
  • Document significant changes or abnormal findings and record attendance at learning opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other health team members by consulting with professionals and reviewing participant activity plans through case studies.
  • Stay updated on current trends in exercise science and direct projects to maintain staff knowledge in the field.
