About The Position

The Cardiac Technician plays a vital role in delivering high-quality ambulatory cardiac monitoring services by reviewing, analyzing, and processing cardiac studies with accuracy and attention to detail. This position is responsible for identifying and documenting cardiac rhythms, arrhythmias, and clinically significant events, preparing preliminary reports for physician interpretation, and escalating urgent findings in accordance with established clinical protocols. Cardiac Technicians provide patient support by assisting with monitor use, troubleshooting device issues, and ensuring successful study completion while maintaining excellent customer service. Working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, they adhere to quality standards, departmental procedures, and regulatory requirements while effectively managing multiple priorities. The ideal candidate possesses strong ECG interpretation skills, critical thinking abilities, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering safe, efficient, and patient-centered care. Cardiac Monitor Technicians perform patient monitoring duties in the telemetry areas and is responsible for informing physicians of any arrhythmias or changes in patient's rate or rhythm.

Requirements

  • Proficient in MS Internet Explorer, Excel and various MS office programs

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) required
  • A minimum of 3-5+ years of experience as a telemetry/monitor technician or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • An associate degree (AA) or two years college course work preferred

Responsibilities

  • Review patient's ECG data and related algorithm findings for clinical accuracy and completeness
  • Effectively communicate ECG abnormalities by notifying physicians as required according to physician notification protocol
  • Perform 100% of the quality assurance behind the final report delivered to the physician, and provide report format modifications and additions as requested
  • Maintain compliance with job specific proficiency requirements, including CCT certification
  • Answers calls for assistance from patients and inquiries concerning patients from physicians
  • Continuously develop clinical knowledge, particularly ECG rhythm interpretation skills
  • Communicate with internal and external customers
