About The Position

Under general supervision, this role follows established policies, procedures, and professional guidelines. The Cardiac Monitoring Tech is responsible for monitoring and identifying basic normal cardiac rhythms, dysrhythmias, and lethal arrhythmias. They will report these findings to the appropriate personnel and perform rhythm documentation and labeling per TGH policy. This position also performs customer service, receptionist, and clerical/secretarial activities, serving as a communication resource for patients, visitors, family, and healthcare team members with the ability to triage communication priorities. Responsibilities include answering the telephone and patient intercom system, alerting nursing staff to patient and family concerns and other calls, and ordering supplies and stock items as required. Dual role responsibilities will not be performed at the same time, but the individual will be able to flex between the roles based on organizational needs. The role is also responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Successful completion of EKG certification program or previous experience as a Monitor Technician in an acute care hospital and successful completion of a competency assessment required.
  • Ability to accurately interpret rhythm strips and recognize changes required.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing required.
  • Can be a licensed Paramedic in Florida or a nationally recognized Paramedic.

Responsibilities
