About The Position

Provides continuous surveillance of telemetry patients, ensuring adherence to proper telemetry monitoring procedures. Documents and reports patient information according to established policies and procedures. Collaborates with the healthcare team to deliver quality patient care and maintain a safe environment. This role involves monitoring patients' cardiac rhythms and pulse oximetry, interpreting variations, and communicating findings to the Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include data collection, documentation of rhythms and significant events, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Cultural Awareness Knowledge of people with diverse backgrounds and the ability to convey respect and connect effectively.
  • Health Information Documentation - Knowledge of the relevance of health information and appropriate documentation methods, ability to record medical histories, symptoms, vital signs, medications, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, tests, and medical results in written or electronic form.
  • Patient Safety - Knowledge of the risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment, and the ability to take steps to reduce these risks.
  • Life Support - Knowledge of the process taken to restore and maintain essential physiological functions, and the ability to apply these processes in a patient care situation.
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail - Understanding of the necessity and value of accuracy and attention to detail, ability to process information with high levels of accuracy.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year Previous telemetry and/or patient care experience preferred
  • TC - Telemetry Certified - National Telemetry Association

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.

  • Minimizes risk of harm to patients and others by following established nursing practices and protocols and individual performance.

  • Continuously and attentively monitors patients’ cardiac rhythms and pulse oximetry, accurately interpreting and communicating baseline variations to Registered Nurse.
  • Collects data and documents interpreted rhythms and significant events during shift. Completes required reporting.
  • Maintains equipment and assists with application, return, and troubleshooting, escalating according to established procedures if necessary.
