About The Position

Performs continuous observation, interpretation, and communication of cardiac rhythms for cardiology patients under the supervision of the RN. This role involves analyzing, interpreting, and recording ECG rhythms, maintaining continuous assessment of ECG rhythm at a central monitor and during patient transport, identifying changes and reporting them to the RN. The technician is also responsible for cleaning and maintaining telemetry monitors/holders, ensuring alarms are at appropriate levels, and performing other unit-specific duties such as video monitoring, order entry, and answering phones.

Requirements

  • Minimum High school diploma or GED; or 1 to 3 months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic cardiac dysrhythmia training or successful completion of a cardiac dysrhythmia training course upon hire.
  • CPR – American Heart Association

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred EMS, CMA diploma/training/experience.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately analyzes, interprets and records ECG rhythms according to procedure.
  • Maintains continuous assessment of ECG rhythm at central monitor and during patient transport. Identifies changes and responds or reports to the RN as appropriate.
  • Cleans and maintains the telemetry monitors/holders and accounts for monitor upon patient discharge.
  • Ensures alarms are maintained at appropriate levels and settings.
  • Performs other unit specific duties such as video monitoring, order entry and answering phones.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
