About The Position

The Cardiac Monitor Technician provides continuous telemetry monitoring to support patient care. The role involves recognizing and reporting rhythm changes, assisting with monitoring equipment and electrode placement, and maintaining accurate cardiac monitoring documentation. The position is on the day shift at East Jefferson General Hospital, part of LCMC Health. The listed duties describe the general nature of the work and may be amended to meet organizational needs.

Requirements

• Completion of a Cardiac Monitor Training course or one year of experience as an EKG Technician or monitoring cardiac rhythms.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and identify changes or abnormalities.
• Promptly notify nursing staff of rhythm changes, signal loss, or lead disconnection.
• Assist with telemetry setup, electrode placement, lead selection, and battery replacement.
• Interpret EKG rhythms and document atrial and ventricular rates.
• Maintain rhythm strips, monitoring logs, equipment, and supplies.
• Activate Rapid Response or Code Blue protocols when indicated.
• Participate in unit initiatives and quality improvement activities.
