About The Position

Performs continuous observations, interpretation, and communication of cardiac rhythms for monitored patients; performs TR Band removals. Assists and supports the monitor technicians, nurses, and physicians in the care of the monitored patient population through direct and indirect patient care activities.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years Cardiac Monitor Technician experience
• Basic cardiac dysrhythmia training or successful completion of a cardiac dysrhythmia training course upon hire
• CPR – American Heart Association
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competency in removal of TR bands.
• Accurately documents TR band removal per facility policy.
• Accurately analyzes and interprets ECG rhythms according to procedures.
• Lead Shift Operations; Act as the primary point of contact for operational questions, facilitate communication, and guide junior CMTs.
• Maintains continuous assessment of ECG rhythm at central monitor and during patient transport. Identifies changes and responds or reports as appropriate.
• Demonstrates knowledge of central station and bedside monitors. Maintains alarms at appropriate levels.
• Contributes to achievement of department, division, and organization goals.
• Recognizes clinically significant changes in patient condition, reports to appropriate personnel and follows CMU Escalation Protocol.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
