Requirements

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina, Registered as a Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist, or Certified as a Cardiac Device Specialist
  • BLS/CPR certification required.
  • ACLS/PALS is required in specialty areas as determined by accrediting bodies (Cardiology, Infusion, Rheumatology Infusion, CT & GI Endo)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with an EMR system preferred
  • Two years of clinical/ambulatory nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide thorough, proficient pacemaker ILR, and ICD interrogation and reprogramming to cardiac device patients in person and/or remotely.
  • Conduct device analysis, preliminary report generation, and alert physician or mid-level practitioner to urgent issues requiring further attention.
  • Interrogate, interpret, and reprogram cardiac devices with minimal physician supervision.
  • Troubleshoot critical device issues and take immediate steps towards resolution.
  • Collect diagnostic testing data, recognize abnormal results and present data to licensed provider for final analysis.
  • Collaborate with physicians regarding device status and accurately document analysis in EMR for review.
  • Educate patients on all aspects of their device including remote monitoring and follow-up protocols.
  • Monitor four web based patient care networks for daily analysis of scheduled and alerts data.
  • Ensure charges are accurately captured for device interrogation.
  • Recommend appropriate follow up for ongoing device management.
  • Assist nursing staff and non-physician practitioners in the delivery of patient teaching.
  • Keep equipment in good working condition and notify management of any problems or safety issues.
  • Ensure device rooms are adequately stocked with necessary supplies and reorder as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
