About The Position

Sierra Medical Center, part of Northern Nevada Health System, is a 170-bed acute care hospital offering diverse services including 24/7 ER care, cardiology, oncology, labor and delivery, level II NICU, surgical, and orthopedic services. This full-time opportunity, 40 hours per week, offers full benefits and a flexible schedule. The role is for either a Cath Lab Registered Nurse or a Cardiovascular Lab Radiological Technologist. The Cath Lab Registered Nurse provides direct patient care to adult populations, focusing on psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care in the procedural/interventional environment. This includes effective communication with physicians and team members, assessing equipment readiness, assisting with supplies, monitoring and positioning patients, and administering moderate sedation under physician guidance. The Cardiovascular Lab Radiological Technologist performs cardiovascular and interventional radiological procedures, including radiographic diagnostic and interventional procedures as ordered by a licensed practitioner, ensuring optimal patient care through departmental standards and professional judgment. Both roles involve admitting, recovering, and discharging patients from the Cardiovascular Lab, providing direct patient care, evaluating outcomes, consulting with health team members, and performing head-to-toe and post-procedure assessments. The position requires a kind and respectful approach to patients and their families, addressing their psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Nevada.
  • Current POC license within 90 days.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current ACLS certification.
  • Minimum of one year experience in critical care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to adult patient populations.
  • Address the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the procedural/interventional environment.
  • Communicate effectively with the physician and team members about patient condition.
  • Assess procedure room for equipment functioning and readiness.
  • Assist in obtaining supplies for individual cases and ensuring all appropriate needs of the cardiovascular lab team are met.
  • Monitor, position and assist patient during procedure.
  • Administer moderate sedation under the guidance of the Physician (for RNs).
  • Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities (for RNs).
  • Perform cardiovascular and interventional radiological procedures (for Radiological Technologists).
  • Perform radiographic diagnostic and interventional procedures in the interventional service line, upon the order of a licensed practitioner (for Radiological Technologists).
  • Provide for optimal patient care applying departmental standards and protocols (for Radiological Technologists).
  • Exercise professional judgement in performance of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology procedures (for Radiological Technologists).
  • Provide appropriate patient care and recognized patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure (for Radiological Technologists).
  • Responsible for admitting, recovering and discharging of patients from the Cardiovascular Lab.
  • Provide direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, consult with other health team members as required and adjust nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy, including post-procedure assessments.
  • Approach patient in a kind, gentle manner.
  • Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity.
  • Identify and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families.
